Straight-line winds can cause more damage than a small tornado in many cases. A severe thunderstorm in Indianapolis blew over an entire line of power pole lines, taking out power and creating a dangerous situation. Nearby, hail as big as golf balls pelted many homes, leaving holes in their siding.
