Protesters use Makeshift Shields to Face Off Against National Guard Tear Gas

Protesters in Caracas, Venezuela, protected themselves with makeshift shields and faced off against National Guard forces shooting tear gas canisters on May 8.These videos show the conflict, which took place in the Chacaito neighborhood near Plaza Brion.Nearly 30 people have been killed in the ongoing protests in Venezuela, several of those from fatal injuries associated with being hit by tear gas “bombs.”Opposition leaders and activists say that the protest suppression tactics used by the National Police and National Guard, under President Nicolas Maduro’s command, are egregiously violent and violate their constitutional right to protest peacefully.
