Uber could have used software to evade authorities

Uber is under investigation for allegedly using software to help evade authorities.
The 'greyball' software would have allowed Uber to operate in several areas that restrict, ban, or have not yet approved it.
Transport regulation officials posed as passengers to catch Uber, but greyball later helped the company block those users from accessing the app.
Back in 2017, The New York Times wrote about the scrutiny, with Uber claiming the software helped them limit fraud and discern the legitimacy of ride requests.
Uber is also battling in court with Google for allegedly stealing plans from the latter's self-driving car project.
