Heavy Downpour Leads to Flash Flooding in Southwest Louisiana

A series of thunderstorms brought heavy rains and flash flooding to southwest Louisiana, particularly around the Lafayette region, on Wednesday, May 3.This footage shows heavy rain and flooding in Rayne, about 17 miles from Lafayette.According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, four to eight inches of rain had fallen over southwestern and central Louisiana by 5:17 pm Wednesday.Similar bad weather was reported in other parts of the South and Midwest.
