Drones And Robots Built A Beautiful Pavilion

by Jeff DonlanA team of drones and robots built a pavilion designed to look like a moth web – and humans couldn’t have done it any better. Students and researchers at the University of Stuttgart used over 110 miles of woven glass and carbon fiber to build it. Two stationary robots wound the fiber threads, and drones passed the fiber between the machines. The structure is 40 feet long and weighs over one ton. It was part of an annual pavilion building series that mimics structures found in nature.
