The Internet collectively facepalmed after Adidas' insensitive email

Yesterday was the 121st running of the Boston Marathon. Today, Adidas sent out an email with the subject title "Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!" The subject line immediately drew criticism for using the phrase "survived," something many view as insensitive given the Boston Marathon bombing four years ago. While it is likely an unfortunate mistake and a poor choice of words, Twitter was up in arms. "We deeply apologize for our mistake. The Boston Marathon is one of the most inspirational sporting events in the world. Every year we're reminded of the hope and resiliency of the running community at this event."
