Anti-Fascist Protesters Converge on Le Pen's Paris Rally

As the first round of the French presidential election looms, Paris police clashed with anti-fascist protesters near a rally at a Paris arena by far-right Front National leader Marine Le Pen on Monday evening, April 17.Skirmishes also broke out in the capital on Sunday, as protesters marched from a northern multi-ethnic neighbourhood to La Villette Park, where Monday’s rally was held. Protesters contend that basic freedoms will disappear if Le Pen is voted into power.
