NYC Five-Alarm Fire Injures 11 Firefighters

A contractor has been in charged in connection with a five-alarm fire in New York City on Tuesday, April 11, that injured 11 firefighters.Declan Mcelhatton, 53, of Maintenance Asset Management in Yonkers, was to be charged with arson and reckless endangerment, according to a report. The fire was caused by an open flame near combustibles, the report said.The fire damaged 112 units in the seven-story building, and 67 families had registered with the local American Red Cross chapter. Fifteen of those families needed emergency housing.The FDNY used its drone in the firefight and released the footage from it on Thursday.
