Nearly 2,000 firefighters were battling the 18,000-acre Whittier Fire in California’s Los Padres National Forest on Sunday, July 16. This video shows a back fire operation – aimed at burning off fuel to prevent the fire’s spread – near Bee Rock.The fire started on July 8 and is burning in an area that has seen no fire since 1955.
