Taiwan has become the first Asian country to ban the consumption of dog and cat meat in a law passed on Tuesday. According to the bill, people who eat or trade dog and cat meat will be fined between $1,640 to $8,200. The law also bans cruel practices such pulling the animals on a leash by cars and motorcycles. People will now face up to two years of jail time and can be fined $65,000 if caught brutally harming the animals. Animals Asia Foundation CEO Jill Robinson
