Study finds HPV affects half of U.S. adults

A report released Thursday stated that 45-percent of Americans have a form of genital human papillomavirus (HPV). Health officials say 25-percent of men and 20-percent of women between the ages of 18 and 59 have a strain of HPV that is a high risk for cancers. Even though there are over 150 strains of the virus, it usually goes away on its own. The CDC says that most sexually active people will acquire HPV, but children are usually vaccinated before then.
