Report: Trump Jr. Likely Received More Than $50,000 To Attend Meeting By Pro-Russia Group

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Donald Trump, Jr. was likely paid more than $50,000 to attend a meeting in France late last year convened by a French think tank with alleged links to Russia.
As speculation continues about the Trump team’s dealings with Russia, there is increasing scrutiny about an engagement the president’s son attended during the election.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Donald Trump Jr. “was likely paid at least $50,000 for an appearance late last year before a French think tank whose founder and wife are allies of the Russian government in efforts to end the war in Syria.”
The estimate is based on his minimum appearance fee of $50,000 and accounts of past speakers who said the think tank often pays an additional 20 to 30 percent.
The conference, held on October 11 in Paris, was arranged by the Center of Political and Foreign Affairs.
Renaud Girard, the man who moderated the event, has since told ABC News, “They are openly linked with the Russians. They don’t hide it at all.”
And, according to The Telegraph, Randa Kassis, the wife of the organization’s founder, posted about her interaction with Trump Jr. on Facebook after the meeting, writing, “I succeeded to pass Trump, through the talks with his son, the idea of how we can cooperate together to reach the agreement between Russia and the United States on Syria.”
Kellyanne Conway, who is now a White House Counselor, admitted in late November that Trump Jr. did attend the session but said, “This event featured a number of opinion leaders from all over the world who were interested in the US elections.”
