Porcupine fends off leopard in Kruger National Park

An amazing video has emerged of a porcupine running at a leopard in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

The footage, shot late last year, shows the porcupine charging the predator with its quills facing it.

"The porcupines, then about 10m away from the tunnel, seemed to say their goodbyes to each other," the filmer said.

"The leopard slowly made his way out of the tunnel, during which time one of the porcupines ran off into the distance, while the other turned around and charged the leopard!

"He raced towards the leopard, turning around at the last second to face his quills at the leopard, who fought back momentarily.

"The porcupine then made a break for it across the road and back into his home underneath it."
