Canada to offer permits to those stranded by Trump's travel ban

Canada said it will offer temporary residency permits to individuals who are stranded following President Trump's travel ban. The executive order bars nationals from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the United States for the next 90 days. Canada's immigration minister Ahmed Hussen, a Somali refugee, noted that no one is stranded at the airport due to Trump's order. "Let me assure those who may be stranded in Canada that I will use my authority as minister to provide them with temporary residency if they need it, as we have done so in the past," Hussen said. The White House confirmed that permanent residents of Canada can enter the U.S. even if they have a passport from one of the affected countries.
