Microsoft acquires Canadian startup Maluuba

Microsoft announced it officially acquired Canadian artifical intelligence startup Maluuba, which focuses on natural language processing. The company, which is based in Montreal, focuses on using deep learning to increase the proficiency of computer-based systems. Microsoft is also bringing artificial intelligence expert Yoshua Bengio aboard as an advisor. The co-founders of the startup, Sam Pasupalak and Kaheer Suleman, are graduates of the University of Waterloo.
