Plane crashes into buildings while landing in fog in Kyrgyzstan, dozens killed - TomoNews

MANAS, KYRGYZSTAN — A Turkish Boeing 747 cargo plane crashed in a village in Kyrgyzstan on Monday, killing at least 30 people.

According to Flightradar24, the plane was operated by ACT MyCargo Airlines, a Turkish cargo airline based in Istanbul. The flight number was TK6491, local media reported.

The aircraft was stopover at the Manas airport on its way from Hong Kong to Istanbul, when it crashed in a nearby village as it tried to land in dense fog, Reuters reported Kyrgyz officials as saying.

At least 30 people were killed, according to a statement from Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations. The crash also damaged at least a dozen buildings in the village, said Mukhammed Svarov, head of crisis management centre at the emergencies ministry. Most of the victims were people who were inside the damaged buildings, and officials expect the death toll to rise.
