Donald Trump’s first news conference in six months has been described as a ‘trainwreck,’ ‘jaw-dropping,’ ‘lame’ and ‘strange.’

Trump 'fake news' conference is as real as pro wrestling https://t.co/B2SrgJv4An pic.twitter.com/DA8rrGdm4x— JDCrowe2 (@Crowetoons) January 12, 2017

Trump vowed jobs, but then:
“There’s a great spirit going on right, a spirit that many people told me they’ve never seen before. Ever. We’re going to create jobs. I’ve said that I will be the greatest jobs producer that God aver created and I mean that.”

He has still to convince the Office of Government Ethics that his decision to let his two sons run his global empire frees him from a conflict of interest:’‘I could actually run my business, I could run my business and run the government at the same time, I don’t like the way that looks, but I would be able to do that if I wanted to, I would be the only one that would be able to do that. What I’m going to be doing is my two sons who are right here, Don and Eric, are going to be running the company.”

He reiterated his campaign pledge to build a wall along the US/Mexico border and get the Mexicans to pay for it:“We’re going to build a wall. I don’t feel like waiting a year or a year and a half. We’re going to start building. Mexico in some form and there are many different forms will reimburse us and they will reimburse us for the cost of the wall.”

The Trump relationship with Russia, imparticular President Vladimir Putin, is now massively under the microscope:“If Putin likes Donald Trump, guess what folks? That’s called an asset, not a liability. Now, I don’t know that I’m going to get along with Vladimir Putin. I hope I do. But there’s a good chance I won’t. And if I don’t, do you honestly believe that Hillary would be tougher on Putin than me? Does anybody in this room really believe that? Give me a break.”

The ‘dirty dossier’ on Trump allegedly held by the Russians was given short shrift: “I think it’s a disgrace that information would be let out. I saw the information, I read the information, outside of that meeting. It’s all fake news. It’s phony stuff. It didn’t happen. It was a group of opponents who got together, sick people, and they put that crap together.”

Trump’s dislike of journalists has already be made plain. In December 2915 he said “I hate some of these people, I hate ‘em,” adding “I would never kill them. I would never do that.”

Donald Trump actually just ended his news conference by saying “You're Fired” https://t.co/VXiEBLBv1X pic.twitter.com/VtjUsRamkC— Huffington Post (@HuffingtonPost) January 11, 2017

The die is cast, interesting times ahead for White House news corps.
