Winston-Salem, North Carolina, police are investigating a May 3 arrest after a Facebook video showed a physical confrontation. TeKara Williams, 24, had been pulled over for driving 51 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone, according to a report.Da’ton Edwards, who was driving by the scene, filmed the confrontation between the officer — identified as J.C. Carter — after Williams had been pulled from the vehicle. Williams identifies herself on the video and says she doesn’t know why she is being put in handcuffs. Carter is heard saying he wanted the keys, and Williams says her grandfather owns the car and is coming to the scene. The video doesn’t show what happened that lead to Carter pulling Williams out of the vehicle.Williams was charged with resisting arrest and also faces traffic violations that include speeding, driving with a revoked license, displaying a revoked registration plate, driving without insurance and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change, a report said.Police have reviewed the Facebook video and the officer’s body camera footage, the report said, and the investigation is ongoing.Police released a statement to local media that said the video only shows a portion of the encounter and that Carter introduced himself after he pulled Williams over by name and told her why she had been stopped. Williams was told the vehicle’s license plate had a “pick up order,” and the officer attempted to have her turn off the vehicle and hand him the keys, the statement said. That’s when Williams became confrontational, police said.
