Report: One Of Trump’s First Priorities Is To Fill The Supreme Court Vacancy

One of Donald Trump’s first priorities after becoming president is to reportedly fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the unexpected death of Justice Antonin Scalia.

Donald Trump will have many issues to tackle once he takes office later this month, but his team is said to be focusing on one priority in particular.
Citing inside sources, Politico is reporting that Trump's advisers want him to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the unexpected death of Justice Antonin Scalia as "one of the earliest acts of his presidency."
The bench is currently considered to be evenly divided, with four right-leaning and four left-leaning members, notes The Guardian.
Observers believe it may be easier for Trump to add a more conservative justice to the panel at this point since the person would likely be returning the court to its prior ideological balance.
However, there is speculation that the Democrats could try and fight this appointment in retaliation for Republicans’ refusal to consider Merrick Garland, President Obama’s somewhat moderate pick to fill out the Supreme Court vacancy.
In September, Trump released a list of 21 potential Supreme Court nominees, though he has since reportedly narrowed the search to a few top choices.
