In a recently released Vanity Fair interview, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski talked about a perception among their peers that they have an unusually close relationship with President-elect Donald Trump.
Reporter Emily Jane Fox specifically asked them about CNN’s Chris Cuomo and referred to a tweet where he wrote about the pair a couple weeks ago that “They have always been boosters. Things turned south when trump froze them out but coverage always stilted. They are transition spokesmen now.”
Scarborough responded by saying, “First of all, you have to take whatever Chris Cuomo says or retweets with a grain of salt because he also retweeted something saying that Morning Joe was a racist show.”
Scarborough continued by saying about Cuomo, “Unfortunately, he’s obviously unhinged by something. We’ve never said anything bad about him, never said anything negative about the show, never said anything negative about the show. But he apparently is becoming unhinged for some reason.”
Nevertheless, they have denied bias towards the president-elect, with Brzezinski stating, “No one has been tougher on Donald Trump than Joe and I.”
