Instagram reaches 600 million monthly active users

Instagram today announced a new milestone for its user base with the service now over 600 million monthly active users. The photo-sharing app added 100 million users since June, when it last announced its 500 million user milestone, the company said in a blog post. Since then, the company launched Instagram Stories, its picture and video slideshow feature, identical to the signature function of rival Snap Inc's Snapchat. The company, owned by Facebook, has also taken steps in the past six months to crack down on abuse on the platform, giving users the ability to filter out abusive words and delete followers.
