During an interview with Chris Wallace on 'Fox News Sunday,' Donald Trump said he is "open-minded" about the factors impacting climate change.
He said, "I'm very open-minded. I'm still open-minded...Nobody really knows. Look, I'm somebody that gets it and nobody really knows. It's not something that's so hard and fast."
Politico notes, Trump may be "suggesting that he could greenlight controversial pipeline projects halted by the current administration and at the same time allowing for the possibility that the U.S. could remain part of a landmark international climate-change agreement."
Back in November, Trump commented in a New York Times interview that he sees “some connectivity” between climate change and the actions of humans.
Trump is quoted as saying, "I think there is some connectivity. Some, something. It depends on how much.'"
Trump has flipped his views on the matter a number of times in recent years.
In 2009, he called on President Obama to push for legislative action directed at fighting global warming.
However, throughout his presidential campaign, Trump vehemently denied that climate change exists, going so far as to call it a ‘hoax.'
Among his campaign pledges was to weaken regulations established to protect the environment, particularly those that have adversely impacted the coal industry.
