Sources: NHL, NHLPA in talks to bring back 'bye week' next season

Most NHL teams are already upset with the advent of the new five-day "bye" weeks which will be implemented for all 30 teams during the second half of this season. Sources have told ESPN now that both the NHL and NHL Players' Association are in talks to bring the bye weeks back for the 2017-18 season. If the NHL ends up participating the 2018 Winter Olympics next season, that two-week break would take the place of a potential five-day bye week. But, if the NHL doesn't make a trip out to South Korea, the bye week is very likely. There should be a final decision made following the board of governors meeting this week in Palm Beach, Florida.
