'Syrian Army takes control of Aleppo's rebel-held Old City' - monitoring group

The final rebel-held areas of Aleppo’s Old City have fallen to Syrian government forces, according to a monitoring group.

This means approximately two thirds of eastern Aleppo are now under the control of forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the news, which comes after the army began to enter the Old City on Tuesday (December 6) following rapid advances in the past two weeks.
