President Obama Tells Rolling Stone: ‘Michelle Will Never Run For Office’

In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Jann Wenner, President Obama stated flat out that ‘Michelle will never run for office,’ echoing previous statements he and other insiders have made about her not entering politics despite public support for her to do so.

Despite a social media campaign backing Michelle Obama for president in 2020, those close to the first lady have uniformly expressed that she is not interested.
In fact, in a recently released interview, Rolling Stone’s Jann Wenner asked President Obama about his wife possibly entering politics; Obama responded by saying, “Michelle will never run for office. She is as talented a person as I know. You can see the incredible resonance she has with the American people. But I joke that she's too sensible to want to be in politics.”
He gave a similar response on the radio show 'Sway in the Morning' last month, also adding, “Michelle does not have the patience or the inclination to actually be a candidate herself. That’s one thing y’all can take to the bank.”
David Axelrod, Obama’s chief campaign strategist during both his presidential runs, also echoed that sentiment in October when he said about the first lady running for office, “I would bet everything that I own against that prospect.”
During an event at the White House on November 14, Michelle Obama chuckled when an audience member shouted, “Run for president!”
She responded by saying, “Be quiet back there.”
The call for her to become a candidate in the 2020 race began to grow soon after Donald Trump clinched the election over Hillary Clinton.
