Trump's Long Stalled Project In Argentina Moves Ahead

Quartz reports a Trump project in Argentina is moving ahead after being stalled for a long time, raising further questions about conflicts of interest for Donald Trump.

Suspicions have been raised about a potential conflict of interest between the Trump Organization and the Argentinian government.
The controversy began when Argentina’s president Mauricio Macri called Donald Trump to congratulate him for the victory in the U.S. presidential election.
As journalist Romina Manguel recounted to The Guardian, “Macri told Trump that Argentina is welcoming foreign investment now, and Trump replied that he has a $150m investment in Argentina stalled because of a building permit in Buenos Aires.”
The building is believed to be a Trump Tower which has been in development for years.
A spokesperson for Macri has refuted any mention of the project, telling CNN Money, “They only talked about maintaining relations between both countries, restarted during the administration of Macri and of Obama. Towards the end [of the call] they recalled their personal relationship from years ago.”
However, observers have pointed out that, just days after their conversation, YY Development Group, a real estate company in Buenos Aires, revealed that the tower would be moving forward, reports Quartz.
CNN Money has noted that Trump may have been denying the link when the president-elect tweeted recently, “Prior to the election, it was well known that I have interests in properties all over the world. Only the crooked media makes this a big deal!”
