This past year is "very likely" to be the hottest year on record according to the World Meteorological Association.
"Long-term climate change indicators are also record breaking.
Concentrations of major greenhouse gases in the atmosphere continue to increase to new records."
Ice levels in the Arctic sea are also low and "there was significant and very early melting of the Greenland ice sheet."
Should 2016 set a new record, 16 out of the 17 hottest years ever will have been in this century.
