E-commerce giant Alibaba has beaten its sales record for its annual Singles Day event.
Sales on its e-commerce platform reached 102 billion yuan ($15 billion) shortly before 8 pm in China, easily topping last year’s total of 91.2 billion yuan with about four hours left to run.
The biggest shopping bonanza in China - and in the world, really - started at midnight across Alibaba's online stores such as Taobao and Tmall.
Alibaba threw a huge concert to kick it off, featuring Scarlett Johansson, David Beckham, Kobe Bryant and One Republic.
