Garbage truck compactor crushes Moroccan man to death

AL-HOCEIMA, MOROCCO — Thousands of Moroccans have taken to the streets in rare protests for the North African country after a fisherman was killed by a garbage truck.
According to the Mirror, the accident took place on Friday night as Mouhcine Fikri and other fishermen protested against a police seizure of their day’s catch.
Problem is they’d reportedly reeled in $11,000 worth of swordfish — a protected species in Morocco.
Fikri is said to have dived into the garbage truck with some other fishermen to try and get some of the fish back. Those guys bailed when the compactor powered on but Fikri was still inside and that’s when the compactor began to crush him to death.
Reports say a cop may have ordered its activation to scare the fishmongers away, but regardless, Morocco was pissed.
