Cyberattack knocks out Amazon, Twitter

Twitter and Amazon were unreachable for a portion of Friday morning due to a denial of service attack. Dyn, a major DNS host, posted the following Monday morning. "This attack is mainly impacting US East and is impacting Managed DNS customer in this region. Our Engineers are continuing to work on mitigating this issue," Domain Name Servers help translate a website link into an IP address computers understand. Amazon said it found the cause, but didn't disclose it, of an elevated number of errors related to accessing its cloud services in a main East Coast server hub due to DNS issues. Other websites affected include Tumblr and Spotify. At 9:37 a.m. EST, Dyn said "services been restored to normal."
