In August, Choudary and his follower Mohammed Mizanur Rahman were found guilty of soliciting support for the terrorist group from late June of 2014 to early March of 2015.
Choudary had long been regarded as the preacher of hatred and is believed to be involved in radicalizing those who killed Lee Rigby, a British soldier, in 2013.
According to The Guardian, "he...helped motivate at least 100 young people to turn to terrorism in Britain and Europe."
The evidence needed to convict Choudary and his cohort came via a series of YouTube videos promoting the backing of ISIS, notes RT.
At the sentencing, the presiding judge said, “I regard each of you as dangerous. You show no remorse at all for anything you have said or done…”
