Airlines are notorious for misplacing luggage, but, recently, one of them lost track of something decidedly more precious.
On August 17, JetBlue reportedly sent two unaccompanied 5-year-old children to the wrong destinations.
Both departed from Santiago, Dominican Republic and were under the supervision of airline staff.
Maribel Martinez was at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport waiting for her son, Andy, to arrive.
JetBlue personnel did walk up to her with a child in tow, but it was the wrong one.
Martinez told the New York Daily News that three hours passed before the airline was able to locate Andy.
He had been sent to Boston, which is where the 5-year-old who ended up in New York was supposed to be.
JetBlue issued a statement about the incident, noting it refunded both airfares and gave the families credits for future flights.
Martinez says she will never use JetBlue again and intends to file a lawsuit against the airline.
