New Diabetes Treatment Cuts Risk Diabetic Retinopathy by 50%

A diabetic retinopathy is the formation of new blood vessels that sometimes leak damaging eye sight, and often causing blindness. Researchers used an aggressive diabetic treatment plan to maintain glycemic control, blood lipid levels and blood pressure, which proved effective in cutting the risk for developing diabetic retinopathy in half, as reported at the 76th scientific sessions of the American Diabetic Association.
