This one-armed surfer just beat world number one

Bethany Hamilton, who lost an arm in a shark attack in 2003 at the age of 13, eliminated world number one Tyler Wright of Australia on her way to scoop third place, her best performance in the championship tour, on May 31.

While living and surfing in Hawaii, Hamilton, a junior surfing champion, was attacked by a shark in 2003. She lost her arm and nearly died from loss of blood but was back on a surfboard within a month of the incident.
Her next project is a documentary "Surfs Like a Girl" in which she is filmed surfing the best waves on the planet.
