Researchers Stumble Upon Cell That Tells Mice When To Stop Eating

Scientists at Johns Hopkins seem to have discovered a nerve cell that tells mice when they are full.

A nerve cell that appears to tell mice when to stop eating has been discovered, according to scientists at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
While researching information about the strength of certain synapse connections, the researchers concentrated on the enzyme OGT--which regulates insulin use and sugar chemistry.
After deleting the gene that codes for the enzyme in certain mice, it was observed that they doubled in weight in the span of three weeks.
The altered rodents, while eating the same number of daily meals as those with active OGT enzymes, simply continued eating each meal much longer.
