Woman shoots stalker in neck and butt when he tries to mug her in parking lot

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — A woman being stalked through a mall was followed to her car and attacked by a man. Rather than give up, she fought back and managed to shoot him before escaping.
On Jan. 26 in a Louisville mall, the woman was walking through the food court when she says got the feeling she was being followed. The woman walked to the mall elevator to lose her tracker and get to her car as fast as she could.
Security camera footage released by police shows a man following her into the elevator. The woman told police he looked "out of it, possibly high or drunk." When she asked him what floor he was going to and he said sixth, she claims she started to get nervous. as that's where her car was parked.
As she exited the elevator, the woman quickly made a dash to her vehicle, which was parked about ten spots away. The man quickly gave chase behind her. Though she managed to get to her car, the stalker caught up to her and grabbed her, throwing her into the vehicle and kneeing her in the torso to keep her down.
The woman claims the man then put his hand over her mouth, pulled out a knife, and threatened her with it while demanding all her money. Fearing for her life, the woman somehow managed to rifle through her purse and pull out her handgun. She fired at her assailant, first striking him in the neck, and then shooting him in his rear-end.
The attacker, John Ganobick, was later seen in the stairwell of the parking garage, bleeding from the neck. A witness contacted authorities and police located were able to locate him soon after. He has since been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and criminal mischief, and is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
The woman suffered multiple injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.
