Alex Hirsch vs Disney Censors

Its weird the things youll win and the things youll lose, and sometimes it makes no sense. We had an episode where uh, they- they have um, Dipper gets a flyer from Wendy for a Halloween party and it just said on it, ‘Halloween party um, bottles will be spun. No photos better windup online. And theyre like, “Bottles will be spun! Spin the bottle reference! Impossible! Never on the Disney Channel!” And I was like, aright, you could watch Happy Days, and like that wouldnt be offensive– like, what decade are you guys living in? And theyre like, “The partys unsupervised, what could happen when they spin the bottle?!” Im like, people will kiss each other… I- I dunno… And theyre like, “youve gotta change that.”\r
So I fought them, and I was like watching episodes of Austin and Ally. Like, theres gotta be a spin the bottle reference that I could call em on. And like, finally like, it was after like five e-mails, they were like, “Were not budging. Were not budging. We budged before, this is the last straw!” So, I was like ok… Replace um, bottles will be spun with Not S&P approved. Uh– I was basically being a dick at that point. Um, and they were like “Our audience wont understand that reference.” And Im like, yeah, but is it against the rules? And theyre like “… Not S&P approved, has been approved by S&P.”
