Tesla fights against GM-backed Indiana sales bill

Tesla Motors Inc. is fighting a new effort by a state legislature to halt its direct-to-consumer sales, but this time it's General Motors Co. pushing the legislation.
Indiana's Senate Commerce and Technology Committee is reviewing legislation that would end Tesla's ability to sell to consumers through company-owned stores at the end of 2017.
Tesla says that GM, which testified in a public hearing on Jan. 27 to support the amendment, is behind the push.
GM has taken an increasingly active role in trying to block Tesla from operating company-owned stores instead of relying on independent dealers.
