Recording Academy President Talks About What Went Wrong at Show

Even the Recording Academy President admits there were a few snafus at Monday's Grammy Awards.
"We had the most complicated show on television.
Period.
End of story," Academy President Neil Portnow told reporters backstage in the press room.
With each musical performance, we change over the microphones, the wires.
I mean, if you've been backstage – I can't understand how they get it done, but they do."
Portnow addressed the technical difficulties Adele faced during her performance on Monday night, saying, "those things happen sometimes."
Portnow said that after the "Hello" crooner's microphone dropped onto the paino keys, the show switched to a backup sound system that caused the momentary audio drop.
"All credit to her for how professional she is," he said of Adele.
"She did a great job and we certainly don't like when those things happen, but those things happen sometimes."
