Researchers believe they have discovered how tumors are formed after tracking their development in real-time using advanced 3-D video technology.
The process whereby cancer cells become tumors has been steadily tracked for the first time ever, say researchers at University of Iowa.
Using 3-D video capture technology, the researchers tracked the movement of other cancerous--and healthy--breast tissue cells into tumors as they grew.
According to a write-up of the findings, "The team discovered that cancerous cells actively recruit healthy cells into tumors by extending a cable of sorts to grab their neighbors—both cancerous and healthy—and reel them in. Moreover, the Iowa researchers report that as little as five percent of cancerous
