Elk stuck in snow rescued by Oregon state troopers

PRINEVILLE, OREGON — Oregon State Fish and Wildlife troopers rescued a six point bull elk that was stuck in the snow near Prineville two days after Christmas.

According to the Oregon State Police, the person who reported the bull elk said the animal had jumped over a guardrail and flipped over, landing on his back in the snow.

The elk struggled to right himself, kicking and writhing around until the troopers used a rope to pull him right-side up. He must have exhausted himself, because after the troopers turned him over, he was at first unable to stand on his own four legs. But after a few minutes, he managed to hobble away.

The bodycam footage was posted to the Oregon State Police YouTube channel, along with the note that the timecode in the video is incorrect, srating that the incident happened on Dec. 27.
