Cyclists in head-on crash on London 'cycle superhighway' turning

Footage shows the moment two cyclists were involved in a head-on collision on one of London's 'cycle superhighway' routes, in Cable Street, earlier this month.

The video, from the perspective of rider Cameron Primrose who says the crash was his fault, shows him crossing onto the 'CS3' route as a car turned along it - distracting him from the oncoming bike.

The two then crash head on, falling to the ground and leaving the other cyclist clutching his head.

Thankfully both escaped the incident uninjured and without damage, with commenters online pointing out the lack of appropriate markings and 'poor design' of the turning where it happened.

When uploading the video on Tuesday, Cameron Primrose wrote online: "I still admitted full responsibility as it was my fault but in my (very week) defence/excuse, I was slightly distracted by the car that just turned down a cycle lane.

"By the time saw the other cyclist approaching my thinking was, if I go left, he'll continue around the cycle lane left hand edge, keeping to his left and I might just get past in front of him and he go round my back. As he didn't follow the left hand edge my assumption put us on a direct collision course!! Whoops."

In reply to one commenter, the filmer said "Wouldn't we all be hypocrites if we call out other people's mistakes but never acknowledge our own."
