NEWPORT, OREGON — Oregon police have released a dashcam video showing a 2-year-old toddler being rescued after he was found wandering alone in the middle of Highway 101.

It happened on January 9. The dashcam footage shows a boy walking down the middle of the road as a patrol car drives toward him. The police car slowly stops in front of the toddler.

An officer exits the car and rescues the toddler. The boy was later returned unharmed to his parents, who were desperately searching for him.

On their Facebook page, Oregon police wrote: "The following video is for educational purposes and not intended to ridicule or question those involved."

"The incident was investigated thoroughly and determined to be accidental and no criminal charges will be brought to the parties involved," the post said.
