Officer Honored for Rescuing Toddler From Illinois Highway

A police officer who rescued a toddler running along a busy road in May has been honored his for actions with a Life Saving Award, the Naperville Police Department said on June 11.Police also released this footage of Sergent Anthony Mannino stopping his patrol car and running after the toddler on Route 59, before picking him up to comfort him. Police said the boy had “escaped his mother’s watchful eye” at home and was not hurt in the incident.Police said Mannino was honored with the department’s Life Saving Award on June 7.
