Mmmm, roadkill! Dead deer spotted being taken to Chinese restaurant straight from the roadside

CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA — A Chinese restaurant in North Carolina is getting bad reviews after a customer reported seeing roadkill brought there.
The woman was on a leisurely afternoon drive on Sunday when she spotted her Chinese delivery guys taking a dead deer off the side of the road and loading it into their car, WSOC-TV reports.
She recognized the car because it had delivered food to her home and office multiple times.
When the woman saw the car drive behind the China Fun restaurant in the city of Concord — with the roadkill still in the back — she called police. Police in turn tipped off the Cabarrus County Health Department.
By the time health inspectors showed up, the deer was being slaughtered in the back parking lot of the restaurant. Parts of it had already been brought to the sink inside.
Since the carcass was cut outside and there was no cross-contamination, the health department said there was no threat to public health. The restaurant has remained open.
The restaurant may not have intended to plate up the roadkill, but anyone who eats at China Fun will now have dead deer flashbacks to go with their beef and broccoli.
