On Thursday, a backhoe responding to a water main break in Bedford, Massachusetts was sucked into a sinkhole.

Sinkholes are big trouble, capable of swallowing homes, cars, and even giant trees.
Among the more recent victims of the terrible pits is a backhoe. 
On Thursday, the heavy-duty piece of machinery was responding to a water main break in Bedford, Massachusetts. 
The gushing liquid proved to be more than the ground could take, and before long the road caved in, taking the backhoe with it. 
About half of the excavator sunk into the several feet mud
