Rich Surat RTO faces acute staff shortage - Tv9 Gujarati

Despite being one of the richest Regional Transport Offices (RTO) in the state, the Surat RTO is facing acute lack of staff in clerical and other departments. This is due to non-recruitment of workforce since 1985. While the department has enough work, it is facing acute staff shortage. This has increased burden on current staff. Where RTO requires around 100 personnel for proper functioning, it has only 40, losing its staff to retirement and voluntary retirement schemes (VRS). Interestingly, the last recruitment drive was conducted in 1985.
