CRAIOVA, ROMANIA — Shocking footage of an abused dog in Romania shrieking in fear when a woman tries to pet him has gone viral, and garnered sympathy for the rescued animal.

The video from November 11 shows the dog at Breasta animal shelter in Romania. According to Fox 29 Philadelphia, the scared puppy was sent to the UK on December 19 to be fostered and build up his confidence.

Subsequent videos show the dog, which has been named Kayne, adjusting to a life of nurturing care instead of abuse.

According to Fox 29, an animal rescue worker connected to the Breasta shelter said Kayne will be kept in foster care for now until he is adopted by an owner.
