Argentina: U.S. Offer of Drug War Cooperation Sparks Concerns

The U.S. FBI and DEA have offered to resume cooperation with Argentina in programs to fight drug trafficking and organized crime. While the proposals have been well received by President Mauricio Macri's new right-wing government, major concerns have been raised on how this could effect national sovereignty. Many fear such cooperation could be a pretext for U.S. intervention into Argentina's internal affairs. Macri's close ties to the U.S. embassy fuel such concerns.
