Colombia: Conflict Victims Hail Havana Accord
  • 8 years ago
Organizations representing victims of Colombia's armed conflict welcomed the agreement announced yesterday in Havana as a major step toward peace and reconciliation. The agreement has three main points: truth, victim compensation, and guarantees of non-repetition. To this end, special courts to hear criminal charges, special units to search for the disappeared, and a truth commission will all be created. The challenge ahead is to guarantee implementation.
